- Tell the doctor and pharmacist if the person you provide care for is allergic to bisacodyl, aspirin, or any of the ingredients in disposable enemas. Read the package ingredients.
- Tell the doctor what the stool looked like after the person passed the enema in the toilet.
- Let the doctor know if the person had continued cramping or pain over an hour after the enema was given.
- Call the doctor immediately if continuous bleeding occurs. Note: If the person has hemorrhoids, a small amount of bleeding is normal.
