What to Tell Your Doctor

  • Report to the doctor a fever that does not lower after 48 hours, or any added symptoms such as frequent passing of urine, neck pain, or mental status changes.
  • Let the doctor know about any medicines you gave for the fever, such as aspirin or Tylenol®.
  • Ask the doctor, what is the best type of fever-reducing medicine to use for the person you care for? And ask when to give it.
  • Let the doctor know the amount of fluids the person has been able to drink since having a fever.

If a person shows signs of heat exhaustion or heat stroke,
call 911 immediately.
